Fan-tastic Sports Teams Up With Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills Tour

Fan-tastic Sports is excited to announce that we will be the provider of services for the Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills™ tour!

Do you have what it takes to win the title of Canada’s most skilled youth hockey player?  The dream starts now for players ages 7 to 12 to pit their hockey skills against Canada's most talented juniors.  Fifteen regional qualifying competitions will run across Canada through December, 2011.  The strongest contenders will compete in the Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills National Championship in Ottawa during the 2012 NHL® All-Star Game weekend (January 29-30, 2012) facilitated by Fan-tastic Sports.

“I know the thrill of competing, winning and the camaraderie in competitions like the NHL® All-Star Skills Competition, and I’m excited that Canadian Tire and the NHL can bring this experience to Canada’s minor hockey players ,” said Jonathan Toews, winner of the Stanley Cup® and a Canadian Olympic Gold Medal.

Youth hockey players will compete in a series of four challenges modelled after the NHL® All-Star Skills Competition: fastest skating, shooting accuracy, puck control and passing accuracy.  "Our Fan-tastic Sports team has developed a professional on-ice skills challenge event that will provide a big-league experience for all who participate," said Peter Ing, former NHL player now with Fan-tastic Sports.  "In addition, all scoring will be captured utilizing our automated proprietary Fan-tastic Sports software allowing each participant to compare their scores and rankings by both gender and age via the internet.  This is the same base technology utilized in the training facilities we build, and at all of our interactive events such as the NHL All-Star Fan Fair, Detroit Red Wings HockeyFest and Washington Capitals Convention.  We're honoured to have been chosen by Canadian Tire and the NHL."    The winning players overall will travel to Ottawa to compete in the Canadian Tire NHL Junior Skills National Championship, attend the 2012 NHL® All-Star Skills Competition and the 2012 NHL® All-Star Game at Scotiabank Place. Winners will be selected from three age groupings, in the boys and girls division.

“We are proud to offer a new national youth hockey competition program that will provide a platform for youth hockey players to test their skills against their peers. Our goal is to celebrate their dedication to the sport by giving these talented players the most pronounced NHL experience possible at qualifying and championship events,” said Brian Jennings, the NHL’s Executive Vice President of Marketing. “Our alliance with Canadian Tire expresses precisely what we’ve envisioned as it relates to the reach, scale and power when partnering with such an iconic Canadian brand.”
